Luis Arraez hit a tiebreaking single to spark a five-run 11th inning and the San Diego Padres overcame a pair of two-run homers by Lourdes Gurriel Jr. for a 10-5, 11-inning victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks in Phoenix on Tuesday.
Ramon Laureano had three hits and three RBIs, Manny Machado added three hits and Jake Cronenworth finished with two hits and two RBIs for the Padres, who have won eight of 10.
Arraez, Laureano and Freddy Fermin had RBIs off Jake Woodford (0-2) in the 11th, which also included Jackson Merrill's sacrifice fly and a run-scoring fielder's choice from Cronenworth.
Gurriel homered for a 2-0 lead off Padres starter Yu Darvish in the first and tied the game at 5-5 with his second in the eighth inning off Mason Miller. The latter homer, on a 103.9 mph fastball, went an estimated 439 feet to left-center.
Robert Suarez (4-4) stranded two runners in both the ninth and the 10th innings. He internationally walked Ketel Marte to put runners on first and second with no outs in the 10th but got Geraldo Perdomo to fly out before inducing a double-play grounder from Gurriel. Suarez lowered his ERA in 14 career appearances against the D-backs to 8.36.
Laureano, who finished a homer short of the cycle, is 8-for-22 (.364) with four extra-base hits and five RBIs in five games since joining the Padres at the trade deadline.
Diamondbacks starter Ryne Nelson gave up two runs on six hits in 5 2/3 innings, with two walks and eight strikeouts. He threw a season-high 100 pitches and was removed with two outs and a 3-2 lead in the sixth, but Arizona still had its three-game winning streak end.
Reliever Kyle Nelson entered and walked the bases loaded. Andrew Hoffmann then took over on the mound and walked Fernando Tatis Jr. to tie the game at 3-3.
Darvish gave up three runs on three hits in four innings, with five strikeouts and two walks.
Gurriel homered after Perdomo walked with two outs in the first for a 2-0 lead.
The Padres tied it at 2-2 in the second on Xander Bogaerts' leadoff homer before Laureano tripled and scored on Cronenworth's double.
