The Phoenix Mercury announced plans Thursday to retire Diana Taurasi's No. 3 jersey and induct the legendary guard into the club's Ring of Honor.
There will be plenty of time for fans to secure tickets, as the ceremonies won't happen until the 'Summer of 2026,' according to the team's post Thursday on X.Taurasi, 42, the WNBA's all-time leading scorer, announced her retirement on Feb. 25 after a 20-year career spent entirely with the Mercury.
'Diana is the greatest of all time,' team owner Mat Ishbia said Thursday. 'What she has done over the last 20 years is truly remarkable. From championships to MVPs to gold medals, she is one of the most decorated athletes of all time and we're excited to celebrate all she's done for the sport, the franchise and our city with her induction into our Ring of Honor.'
Taurasi guided Phoenix to championships in 2007, 2009 and 2014 and won the league MVP award in 2009. She ranks first in WNBA history in points (10,646) and 3-pointers (1,447) and is fourth in assists (2,394).
