The Indianapolis Colts have no official timetable for the expected return of quarterback Carson Wentz, who is nursing a foot injury.
Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus said as much as he opened his press conference on Saturday. Eberflus is in charge with head coach Frank Reich in quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19. Reich is expected to return on Monday.
Wentz, acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles in an offseason trade, left Thursday's practice before it was completed.
Wentz has a history of injuries dating to his time at North Dakota State. With the Eagles, he suffered a rib fracture, torn ACL, back injury and concussion.
Jacob Eason ran the first-team offense to end Thursday's practice and again Friday and Saturday. He was a fourth-round pick in 2020 out of Washington but has no NFL game experience.
The Colts signed quarterback Brett Hundley on Saturday. The 28-year-old will compete with 2021 sixth-round pick Sam Ehlinger (Texas) and undrafted free agent Jalen Morton for a roster spot.
A fifth-round pick of the Green Bay Packers in 2015, Hundley last played in the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals in 2019. In 18 career games -- nine starts -- with the Packers and Cardinals, Hundley has completed 199 of 337 passes for 1,902 yards, nine touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
Hundley went 3-6 as a starter for the Packers in 2017 while Aaron Rodgers was sidelined with a broken collarbone.
The Colts also signed free-agent defensive tackle Joey Ivie on Saturday. A seventh-round pick by the Dallas Cowboys in 2017, Ivie, 26, appeared in eight combined games with the Kansas City Chiefs and Tennessee Titans in 2019.
